Spring 2025

Wynta Alexander will be presenting a poster at the Eastern Psychological Conference 2025 Annual Meeting in New York, NY entitled, “Trauma, Online Discrimination, and Tobacco Quit Attempts Among Black Young Adults.”

Zara Khan will be conducting a paper presentation at the Eastern Psychological Conference 2025 Annual Meeting in New York, NY entitled, “Emotional Restriction and Self-Concealment Among Women with Sex Trafficking Experiences.”

Lukonde Mulenga will be presenting a poster at the Eastern Psychological Conference 2025 Annual Meeting in New York, NY entitled, “Sexual Negotiation and Depression After Birth Among Women in Mozambique.”

Sabrina Perrin will be presenting a poster at the Eastern Psychological Conference 2025 Annual Meeting in New York, NY entitled, “Stress, Social Support, and Drinking Motives: A Moderated Mediation Model.”

Zara Khan is a co-author in a manuscript that was accepted for publication.

Rosairi Esteves and Madison Zaldivar will be presenting their research at the CCNY Graduate Student Symposium on April 24th.

Wynta Alexander and Zara Khan will be presenting their research at The Graduate Center, CUNY’s Psychology Research Day on May 2nd.

Madison Zalidivar’s research project was chosen to be showcased at the CUNY-wide celebration of undergraduate research on May 23rd. 

Tasmin Neha was awarded a Colin Powell Graduate Fellowship. 

James Dzera is co-author (2nd author) in a manuscript that was accepted for publication.

Zara Khan was awarded the Graduate Student Research Award in the General Health Psychology category from the Society for Health Psychology (SfHP; APA Division 38) for her dissertation entitled “Understanding Chronic Pelvic Pain, Sexual Coercion, and Barriers to Help-Seeking Through a Biopsychosocial Lens: A Mixed-Methods Study”.

Fall 2024

Wynta Alexander presented a poster at the College on Problems of Drug Dependence (CPDD) 2025 Annual Scientific Meeting in New Orleans, LA entitled, “Investigating Sex Differences in the Relations Between Parent/Guardian Promotion of Tobacco Abstinence, and Tobacco Abstinence, and Tobacco Use in a Nationally Representative Sample of Black Adolescents.”

Nishanthi Anthonipillai presented a poster at the American Psychological Association 2024 Convention in Seattle, WA entitled, “Culture Types and Mentalized Affectivity: Does culture type influence levels of identifying, processing, and expressing emotions?”

Zara Khan presented a poster at the American Psychological Association 2024 Convention in Seattle, WA entitled “Shame and Dissociation Mediate the Link Between PTSD and Self-Concealment Among Sex-trafficked Women.”

Wynta Alexander presented a poster at the College on Problems of Drug Dependence (CPDD) 2024 Scientific Meeting in Montreal, Canada entitled “Mental health and tobacco use initiation among a nationally representative sample of Black adolescents during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Zara Khan was awarded the New York State Office of Mental Health via The Graduate Center’s Psychology Program for contributing to mental health research that benefits the New York population.

Fall 2023

Dr. Adriana Espinosa was awarded a NIH supplement to a U54 CCNY-MSK partnership parent grant for a project entitled “Relative and intersectional analysis of social determinants of lung cancer risk among Black and Hispanic All of Us respondents.”
